Assassin's Creed Valhalla will allow you to change the gender of Eivor at any time
During the Ubisoft Forward digital event, we were able to learn more about Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the new installment in the popular stealth and action saga. Along with the first presentation of its gameplay (although something had been leaked a little before), several impressions of specialized professionals from around the world have also been published, who have been able to test the game and even talk to its creators.
Games Radar has been able to interview Eric Baptizat, the new director of the game, after trying Assassin's Creed Valhalla. In the chat with the developer, he has confirmed that players can switch between male and female Eivor at any point in the game, something that was not possible in previous installments.
Gender, skills, and difficulty can be changed at any time
"You can decide to play as a man or as a woman, but you can also change your character's abilities or gender at any time. You can alternate it whenever you want," Baptizat explained in the interview. We already knew that Assassin's Creed Valhalla would have that duality in its protagonist, but until now we did not know if both characters would have any relationship as in Assassin's Creed Odyssey or if they would be two different versions of the same character.
According to the director's words, it seems that things are pulling more for the second option. Baptizat explained in the interview that the choice of the character's gender has "a certain impact" on the game's narrative, although he has made it clear that they are not two different stories, but that it is the same whether we decide to play with male Eivor or Eivor. feminine.
This decision starts from the fact that the team wanted to "give the player the freedom to experiment", since each one can choose a genre that they consider canonical but always with the option of exploring what it would be like to play with the other character in some situations: "Yes, You have to make a decision, but you can also experiment. This is all in Assassin's Creed Valhalla: it can be the difficulty, the skill tree, the genre, etc. ", explains the director of the game.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla will launch on November 17 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, while its versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X will be released later. It has been confirmed that those who have the current generation versions will be able to update the game for free on the respective next-gen consoles.
